(Savannah, GA)- The Superintendent’s Student of the Month is Patrick Glenn, Jr., an eighth grader at Coastal Middle School. Patrick was selected because he is a highly motivated and ambitious leader in both his school and community. Patrick has been a high achiever throughout his middle school career. Asked what motivates him to be his best, Patrick says “I strive for academic success so that I will have more options in my future.” Patrick also participates in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities at school. He is currently serving as a state officer for Georgia Technology Student Association (TSA), holding the position of Second Vice President. He has also served as chapter president of T.S.A. at Coastal Middle School. For the past two years, Patrick has been selected for the District Honor Band and has received superior ratings in all of the solo and ensemble competitions in which he has participated. He is currently a member of the Coastal Cats, the school’s jazz band. Patrick also has many interests in his community. He has been a member of the Boy Scouts of America since first grade and is currently working on his Eagle Scout project proposal. He plays baseball and participates on the Wilmington Park Swim Team each summer. He is a member of the youth group at Redeemer Lutheran where he is currently completing his confirmation program. He is also a certified scuba diver and is certified in First Aid and CPR by the American Red Cross. The Superintendent’s Student of the Month program recognizes individual students at the monthly board meetings who have excelled in the area of academics, leadership and community service. Patrick will be recognized by Dr. Lockamy and presented with an award plaque and $100 savings bond at the regular board meeting Wednesday, May 6, 2009.
