Coastal Middle SchoolCoastal Middle School Technology Student Association Wins at State Conference
Five Coastal Middle School students recently attended the 47th Annual Georgia T.S.A. State Conference in Athens, Georgia. Participating in a plethora of competitive events, Coastal students displayed their technology skills as they brought home several prestigious awards. With over 2,200 attendees, Coastal Middle School vowed for a win in F1, digital photography, flight challenge, chapter team, problem solving and achievement awards. In the course of the three day event, Isabella Axelsson placed 2nd in digital photography and Patrick Glenn and Zach Norman placed 3rd in problem solving; these two wins in the top three category qualifies these students to compete at the National Conference this summer in Denver, Colorado. Isabella Axelsson, Sarah Gattis, Katie Lum, and Zach Norman also came in 5th place in F1; Patrick Glenn received the bronze and silver achievement awards, and the chapter as a whole received a chapter team award. This award goes to the top 10 chapters in the state. Each student also participated in several technology classes, receiving a Leadership Award Certificate for their willingness to further their leadership and team-building skills. Advisor Jim Glenn received the 100% chapter award. The trip also brought an end to the term of state officer Patrick Glenn. He has served as 2nd Vice President for Georgia T.S.A. for the past year, representing all middle school students on the state level. He and his guests were treated to a state officers’ reception, and each officer received a plaque of appreciation for their commitment to further technology in Georgia.
